Climate Change and Health

The World Health Organization describes climate change as the single biggest health threat facing humanity. The impacts of climate change on health are already occurring and will worsen unless action is taken to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The U.S. healthcare sector accounts for 8.5% of the nation’s total carbon emissions. In order to prevent the worst possible outcomes from the climate crisis, the U.S. healthcare system must dramatically reduce its carbon footprint. Clinicians for Climate Action aims to implement the changes needed to achieve this goal.
